Wolverhampton-based logistics specialist Pallet-Track raised £7,000 for its charity partner The Sick Children’s Trust at its 11th annual charity golf day at Morley Hayes golf course in Derbyshire.
The charity event which hosted 22 teams, saw the 83 players enjoy great weather on the course before sitting down to a celebration dinner, prize giving and raffle which included great prizes such as an iPad donated by Towergate Insurance, a Mini iPad donated by Deker Solutions and a Samsung TV donated by Courier Logistics.
The teams invited were from Pallet-Track’s Wolverhampton headquarters, Scottish and southern hubs, and also include their depot members and partnering organisations. This year’s winner was the Aztek Logistics team, narrowly beating 2014’s winners The Dream Team from Inter-Haul Pallet Services.
Lee Corns of Matthew Kibble won the award for Longest Drive, while Mark Cartner from Hellmann Worldwide Logistics took home the prize for Nearest to the Pin.
Nigel Parkes, managing director at Pallet-Track, said: “Our annual golf day is now in its 11th year and we were thrilled to once again welcome so many of our members, partners and suppliers. We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank our tee and golf day sponsors – Towergate Insurance, Deker Solutions and Vigo Software – for their continued support.
“This year has been another great success for Pallet-Track, with the addition of five new members and the appointment of a thoroughly deserving charity partner in The Sick Children’s Trust – an organisation which has worked directly with the family of our trustee Roy Dowen and the team at Lynn Star Distribution.”
The Sick Children’s Trust provides ‘homes from home’ for 146 families at hospitals across the UK every night and relies entirely on donations. Charlotte Webster, who attended the event on behalf of The Sick Children’s Trust, confirmed that the £7,000 raised would be enough to fund a family room in one of the houses for a whole year and would go a long way towards helping the charity support many more families in the future.
The Pallet-Track team will continue to raise funds for The Sick Children’s Trust throughout the year
